N. 1 VILLA AURELIA: GARDEN AND ELEGANT INTERIORS.

On the edge of the crest of the Janiculum Hill, Villa Aurelia, property of the American Academy in Rome since 1909, reopened in June 2002 after three years of extensive restoration. Its splendid gardens and elegant interiors have been restored to their initial beauty, paying great attention to details and allowing the Villa to become a point of reference among locations of Rome for private events and sophisticated weddings.

With this reopening Villa Aurelia continues in its traditional role, hosting cultural events organised by the Academy such as concerts and conferences.
The beauty of the Villa gardens, the breath‑taking view of Rome and the variety of spaces available make it an ideal location for high‑level weddings and ceremonies.

Its staff pays great attention to their guests and it enables all clients to make their chosen event a unique, personal and unforgettable occasion.
Whether you want to celebrate a refined and elegant winter wedding or a lovely anniversary, Villa Aurelia manages to transform itself into the ideal place, with a little magic and a lot of know‑how, work and commitment.

It always succeeds to be the right venue at the right time!

N. 2 MISE EN PLACE: GLASSWERE, FLOWERS AND CANDELABRAS.

This month for the mise en place we decided to focus on three elements that a couple could use to make unforgettable their winter ceremony.
Glassware is one of the first thing that pops into one’s mind when thinking about a mise en place. The luminous transparencies of crystal draw beautiful shapes on the table and they can transform a simple decoration, turning it into spectacle of shimmering lights and wonder. Β From the small glasses and chalices to flower vases or table decoration, glassware can be considered not only a necessity but an ornamentation itself.

The most obvious example is for sure the champagne tower. Suitable for any festive occasion, it is especially beautiful when champagne flows down like a waterfall during a wedding ceremony.
Moreover, not only it will ensure your reception to have that Gatsby‑inspired vibe that looks definitely dashing and chic, but it’ll create a memorable main point for your invitees, and offers a brilliant photo opportunity for guests.

N. 3 Plus, who doesn’t love champagne?

Our second, but no less important suggestion is about flowers. And to be specific white flowers. December is clearly seen as a holiday month, so we suggest for your wedding ceremony to avoid falling into the red and green scheme colour unless you decide to plan a Hallmark Christmas Movie ceremony (nothing’s wrong with that). Our recommendation is to be classical for the winter season, combining white flowers of different shapes and sizes. This way the movement within the composition will not be given by colours but by the diverse features of the ones selected.

Final recommendation for our December wedding mise en place is to play with the classical decoration that one would need in the venue, and that includes candelabras. Vintage, whimsical or handcrafted, candelabras are great elements to choose for a wedding banquet. Depending on the style, one can suggest the atmosphere with chic and romantic or modern and geometric candelabras. They can be used as centrepieces, making them the absolute stars of the table, or placed differently depending on the composition of the tables. The couple can also decorate them by hand, matching them with the DIY place cards.

Just remember, wedding candelabras work better if they immediately stand out in the ensemble of elements adorning the table, completing and accompanying other decorations.

N. 4 STYLE EDUCATION

Elie Saab Bridal Fall 2023 collection has absolutely caught our eyes while we were watching out for new gowns and researching fresh style trends. Her dresses, that can be admired on her site or Instagram page, are all carefully crafted to enhance aesthetics of symmetry and balance, inspiring a new sense of awe. They summon the Grecian pursuit of harmonious beauty to rejoice a bridal femininity that is magnificent in its shapes and pristine in its appeal.
Majestic silhouettes are refined with shiny details that elevate classical virtues into contemporary moments. Lush foliage and embroidered laurel leaves wreath around strapless corsets and down ethereal tulle gowns.
The collection is full of shimmering lights: translucent gemstones, glimmering beads and crystals on soft lace panels, Chantilly lace across sweetheart necklines, translucent sleeves and luminescent sequins and pearls enrich the dresses making them unique and lucent, perfect for fall brides that want to shine like stars in the winter‑sky.

N. 5 Designer of the month…

CHRISTIE NICOLE BRIDAL

Like every wedding planner that knows how to do her job and does it well, we spend a lot of time researching for trends and ideas to help our couples customize their wedding while still organizing a state‑of‑the‑art ceremony. While scrolling and scrolling, one of us (our head Wedding Planner, Alessandra) came across the talented designer Christie Trowbridge. Looking at her website we immediately knew we had to add her to our Style Education column as designer of the month.
She launched Christie Nicole Bridal in 2016 after a friend approached her to create what became her first bridal dress of many. Christie developed a passionate relation with design through her younger years, living as a thirsty creative under her Grandmother’s wing. After completing a Bachelor of Design, she graduated with a collection that encompassed the exact direction she finds herself in now ‑ modern and innovative.
After establishing herself in the luxury business, her unique skillset and distinct edgy met the romantic aesthetic fluently translating her ideas into Christie Nicole Bridal brand. And what began solely as a bespoke bridal trademark, has now evolved into a made to order business with an exclusive selection of personalized creations per year.
She is known for her intricate details, dramatic silhouettes, bold fabric pairings and renaissance style adornment that pushes the boundaries and challenges traditional wedding standards.
Check out her collections, Daisy and Adele, and let us know which one of her dresses do you prefer.

N. 6 TOI & MOI SECRETS

We had many ideas for the T&M Secrets column this month, but we decided to settles on it for this one reason: their style is incredible and we were in awe discovering that everything is cut and sewn to measure, according to the customers’ desires. The products are handcrafted in Italy, in their workshop in Bologna. They focus on a close collaboration with people, which comes about by interpreting their needs and supporting them at every stage, in order to create made‑to‑measure projects in perfect harmony. All their furnishing textiles, starting with stain‑resistant linen tablecloths, an iconic product and the brand’s true standard‑bearer, interpret the cloth elements as an intimate object that reflects a lifestyle, beyond conventions and fashions.
The harmony of tradition meets modern inventiveness: this is what Borgo Delle Tovaglie is, the place where innovative and sophisticated collections from the highest quality fabrics.
